iCEV now hosts 19 different industry certifications on its online testing platform which is used by Career & Technical Education (CTE) students and upskilling individuals nationwide

The Sports Field Management Association (SFMA) has partnered with iCEV, a trailblazer in Career & Technical Education (CTE) solutions, to host its SFMA Turfgrass Science Certification on the iCEV Testing Platform. By earning this certification, individuals demonstrate they have obtained the foundational knowledge and skills needed in the areas of turfgrass science and management to pursue a career in the turfgrass industry.

The 100-question certification covers a wide range of topics, including turfgrass cultural practices; turfgrass environment; turfgrass anatomy, identification, and adaptations; playing surface preparation; and the benefits of turfgrass. In addition to validating that individuals are more qualified for a turfgrass or sports field management-related career, the certification allows employers to identify and connect with more skilled candidates, filling gaps in the labor market and jumpstarting individuals’ careers.

“This certification will give those interested in the turfgrass industry an excellent resource to prove they possess the base education necessary to be successful,” said Adam Thoms, Ph.D., president-elect of SFMA.

The iCEV Testing Platform provides a secure testing environment for individuals taking the SFMA Turfgrass Science Certification, as well as tailored content to help learners prepare for the certification exam. It is currently used by secondary and post-secondary academic institutions, workforce development associations, and the public at large to offer certification options for career advancement, as well as to provide certification verification to employers for potential job applicants.

“With up to 750,000 sports fields sitting on approximately 7 million acres in the United States alone, there is a great need for highly-skilled individuals in the turfgrass and sports field management industry,” said Dusty Moore, CEO of iCEV. “By receiving the SFMA Turfgrass Science Certification via our trusted testing platform, individuals not only validate their knowledge of the industry-valued and industry-recognized standards produced by the SFMA, which has long been the official voice for green-industry professionals, they demonstrate their readiness to join this in-demand workforce.”

Along with the SFMA Turfgrass Science Certification, iCEV hosts 18 other industry certifications on the iCEV Testing Platform. The company additionally offers test preparation content for more than 70 other certifications. These preparation courses include video instruction and hands-on and project-based learning opportunities to help learners master the standards assessed on a given certification exam.
