Literacy Education Expert Dr. Timothy Rasinski Leads Webinar Highlighting Teaching Strategies to Address the 2024 NAEP Report Card

To support teachers and administrators looking to buck the trend of declining student literacy rates, Just Right Reader is hosting a free webinar, titled “The Art and Science of Teaching Reading Fluency,” featuring acclaimed literacy education expert Dr. Timothy Rasinski. During the hour-long webinar, Rasinski will define reading fluency in relation to the full reading curriculum and explore science-based and artful approaches to teaching this most important reading competency.

 

The webinar is taking place on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT.

 

“The recently-released 2024 NAEP reading results reveal an urgent national crisis in literacy that demands immediate attention and decisive action. Rasinski is a professor of literacy education at Kent State University and director of its award-winning reading clinic. He has written more than 200 articles and has authored, co-authored, or edited more than 50 books or curriculum programs on reading education. Notably, his research on reading has been cited by the National Reading Panel and has been published in journals such as Reading Research QuarterlyThe Reading Teacher, Reading Psychology, and the Journal of Educational Research.

 

Rasinski additionally served a three-year term on the Board of Directors of the International Reading Association (now the International Literacy Association), was co-editor of The Reading Teacher and the Journal of Literacy Research, was the former president of the College Reading Association, and has received a number of awards and accolades for his contributions to literacy education.
