Illustrative Mathematics (IM), a nonprofit dedicated to creating high-quality K–12 math core curricula and professional learning services, has announced the promotion of Ebony Jones to vice president of employee success.

In her new role, Jones will lead key areas including employee relations, performance management, talent acquisition, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives, internal communications, and employee success operations. A champion of IM’s core values of diversity, courage, and collaboration, Jones is dedicated to embedding these principles throughout the organization.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to have Ebony join the senior leadership team,” said Kristin Umland, president and co-founder of IM. “She has done so much for the organization already, and I truly believe that having her help shape the future of IM will be critical in realizing our hopes and dreams for IM’s impact, scale, and sustainability.”

With over 20 years of experience in human resources, Jones is passionate about cultivating inspiring workplaces that prioritize employees. Her distinguished career spans leadership roles across the nonprofit and for-profit sectors, including children’s behavioral health, therapeutic residential care, and private day school education.

In 2025, Jones spearheaded the renaming of IM’s Human Resources department to Employee Success, reflecting her belief in the critical role employees play in driving organizational growth. This change underscores her people-first approach and focus on fostering a culture of inclusion, empowerment, and innovation.

“I have been blown away by the support, care, and concern that IM offers its employees,” shared Jones. “I’m excited to continue achieving amazing things with and for this team.”

Illustrative Mathematics celebrates Jones’s well-deserved promotion and looks forward to her continued impact in this pivotal role.
