Dr. Tiffany Hollis, Associate Professor at Coastal Carolina University

Dr. Tiffany Hollis serves on the advisory board of the Call Me MiSTER program which recruits and retains male educators. She is the faculty fellow for the Edwards Center for Inclusive Excellence and Director of P-12 Educational Equity Initiatives with the Social Justice Research Initiative. Dr. Hollis was awarded the Champion of Diversity Award by the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce in April 2023. She has a clear and strong commitment to diversity, equity, and social justice with more than 18 years of experience, ten of which were spent working with students with emotional and behavioral disabilities and students with mental health diagnoses.

Dr. Hollis is a part of conversations regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as belonging which creates a more intentional and strategic focus on becoming an institution of inclusive excellence at Coastal Carolina. She has served on committees and task forces and has facilitated workshops around creating an inclusive classroom environment, how to facilitate courageous conversations, how to write a diversity statement for the syllabus, and how to create a sense of belonging among minoritized students. As a teacher educator who works with preservice and in-service educators (future teachers and current teachers), she works tirelessly to help students become socially just.

She also works alongside various units and departments on campus to build capacity to continue to recognize and overcome persistent inequities that are present at various levels at the institution where she works. Dr. Hollis has held information sessions with aspiring educators from historically underrepresented backgrounds, hosted teacher cadets on campus and had a panel to learn from in-service and preservice teachers. Dr. Hollis also advocated for Praxis waivers to be granted to low-income students from historically underrepresented backgrounds, Praxis prep workshops, and the creation of a cohort of aspiring educators to work on preparing for their lives as educators of color and from other intersecting identities.
